On June 27 a workshop, organized by Volusia Parks, was held at DeBary Hall. Tim Baylie and his Parks and Recreation Team hosted the event. Other speakers included Heather Garcia from FDOT, Maggie Ardito and Herb Hiller from the SJR2C Loop Alliance, Tara McCue from ECFRPC, Kelly White Daytona City Commissioner. From Brevard Sarah Kraum, Edyie McCall and Michael Garau all presented.
I especially liked Heather Garcia's (FDOT District 5) Presentation where she played "Happy Trails" to get everyone in the right spirit! Heather is FDOT District 5's SJR2C Loop Project Manager, Her proactive leadership and enthusiasm got many awesome projects kicked off in time to get SUNTrail funding! Kudos to Heather! You can see the results of District 5's work reflected in the map... "getting the red out" - taking that leap from red to yellow is a huge planning and coordination effort.
Brevard got kudos for their active and effective C2C/SJR2C Leadership Group lead by the Sarah of Space Coast TPO. Tim and Tara kicked off the challenging but urgent issue of branding the SJR2C. Kelly White gave an interesting perspective on the history of Daytona trails as well as current status and the impacts trails are having on the local economy and culture.
