Last week I participated in the SR 40 (Ormond Beach Trail Gap) Concept Development and Evaluation Study Walking Tour. The purpose of the walking tour was to introduce people to the project and gain general knowledge of the study area and potential alignment routes. This study is being conducted to close one of several gaps to complete the St. Johns River to Sea Loop. It was a great experience participating with the great team led by FDOT, and meeting interested and interesting people from Ormond Beach. Study contact is Julia Holtzhausen and I also enjoyed talking with Judy Pizzo, and with Claudia Calzaretta learning about the FDOT's support for the Florida Scenic Highways Program. Another thing I learned is, when in Ormond, when they say "The Loop" they mean the Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail.

It was an interesting and productive day... There is much to see and attract cyclists to Ormond Beach. Now if they can just make it safer and more comfortable to ride across that Highway 40 bridge!
